The Rise and Rise of Machinae Supremacy

Machinae Supremacy, a band that I’ve followed in earnest from the release of their first album Deus Ex Machinae, have announced the release of their newest venture, ‘The Rise of a Digital Nation’. The new album is due to be released on October 19, 2012 and I am all hyped up already!

For those in the dark on what I’m rambling on about, Machinae Supremacy, or MaSu, as called by the fans is a Swedish metal band that has invented their own genre – SID Metal. Their brand of music involves modern day heavy metal infused with a sounds made with an SID chip from a Commodore 64!
What ensues is music reminiscent of old school video games with a metal background; An acquired taste, but one that grips you permanently.

They gathered fame with songs released for free download on the net in the early 2000s, which evolved to a soundtrack for a game (surprise, surprise!), which eventually led to the release of their first album, Deus Ex Machinae in 2004. MaSu followed up their first album with the releases of Redeemer in 2006, Overworld in 2008 and A View from the End of the World in 2010.

They have their web releases available free for download on their website, so I do recommend checking them out.

In the end, here is a preview of the song ‘Laser Speed Force’ from the new album.

Welcome to the epic world of MaSu. This is one band I hope will go places, because frankly, they deserve it!
